Iguana Farm, Mangroves and Garifuna

Roatan Custom Tours, welcomes everyone to our amazing Iguanas, Garifuna and Mangroves Tunnels Excursion, are you looking to have an exquisite experience? We really recommend these activities, located at the heart of East End of Roatan island, the fun motorized Canoe would be waiting for us. Once we get to Oak Ridge Village, we’ll be ready to go.
Iguana Farm, one of the little-known treasures on Roatan is Mr. Sherman Arch’s Iguana Farm, located on the main street, French Cay, 25 years ago Sherman saw that Iguanas reptiles were turning into a very popular meal for local people on the island as a result he felt a strong desire to protect and take care of them from the island hunters (in his own farm called Arch’s Farm).  Now the Iguanas are supposed to be protected species on the island. You´ll still see Iguanas and Wishy Willy Lizards around the island in the open spaces but if they are seen, they will soon be on run from the hunters. Today over 3,000 Iguanas roam freely about Sherman’s property. The farm is a family operated by Sherman’s wife and his four children who help with the feeding and care of the Iguanas. Iguana Farm is open to the visitors from 8:00am to 4:00pm Honduras local time every day. The admission is 10 USD per person which is used to help buy their favorite “Coco-Leaf or Cabbage”.
Once everyone finished with animal interaction, it’s time to continue to our next adventure the Mangroves Boat Tour, were heading to the lushest jungle and incredible hilltop views of the mountainside to photograph both sides and the coral reef and distant islands. There is always something new along our way to the east end maybe fresh fruits on season like Bananas, Mango, Papaya, GA-Rambutan or even Coconut Water!!
We are in Oak Ridge to our fun Mangroves Tunnels Tour, this would be on a small motorized canoe those boats take about 8-10 people max at the time due the narrow tunnels, but in case we have more than 10 persons we make arrange with several boats. Once you go on the boat keep your cameras ready you’ll be exploring an interest village here you can take a look of our island style homes, fishing towns on stilts. In our way back from the mangroves we’ll stop at Punta Gorga and Garifuna Village.
